Excuse of the Day: I'm Too Tired!

In my last post, I shared which magazines I go to for health and fitness advice, and at the top of my list was Oxygen magazine. Well, I just received my latest issue, and here's a perfect example of why I really enjoy this one.

From Robert Kennedy's Pub Page:

It is not natural to be tired all the time. It is not natural to wake up tired. Why are so many of us tired all the time? Because there are literally scores of causes of tiredness. It's quite unbelievable. Do you realize that the arguments or bickering you have with your spouse or children are invariably caused by tiredness? Also, are you aware that the common cold, flu, pneumonia and other diseases are more apt to strike someone who is suffering from chronic fatigue? The causes of excessive tiredness are legion, ranging from an underacive thyroid to a dislike of your work environment or boss. . The first step for those who are "tired all the time" is a visit to your doctor, but meanwhile, consider this excessive list of tiredness causes:

  • insufficient sleep
  • poor circulation
  • anemia
  • common cold or flu
  • boredom
  • infection
  • a sick spouse
  • emotions of anger or concern
  • child doing poorly in school
  • fear over losing a job
  • concern over mounting bills
  • lack of regular exercise
  • smoking
  • drinking alcohol
  • inadequate ventilation
  • tight clothing, shoes or socks
  • eye strain
  • overuse of the computer
  • ongoing annoying noises
  • excessive heat
  • too much sleep
  • obesity
  • stimulants and pep pills
  • driving long distances
  • faulty posture (keeps you from breathing enough)
  • eating junk food

So no more excuses. Figure out why you may be using the "I'm too tired" excuse more often than not, and make a change! You'll be glad you did.
