Alright, so I'm finishing up my first week of ChaLEAN Extreme, and it was not an easy week! It was an amazing week though - I can already tell that this is the program that's going to change my life, and really take me to the next level. The overall goal of the Burn Phase of ChaLEAN Extreme is to push your muscles to failure in 10 to 12 reps. We're lifting heavy weights, and doing it slowly. Yikes! So the first workout of the program to review for you is Burn Circuit 1.
I'm going to be totally honest with you here - this workout made me want to throw up. This workout is hard, but hard in a good way. The whole lift heavy, lift slowly idea is more difficult than I imagined! Each set was harder than the last, but I got through each one by telling myself, "You can get to 12!" And Chalene really helps you the whole way. Just when you're thinking, "Okay, these weights are too heavy. I'm only at the 3rd rep so I'm going to take it down a notch," Chalene jumps in with acknowledging that you are at that point, and encouraging you to push through those thoughts to make it to 10-12 reps. There are 9 exercises in the circuit that combine upper and lower body. This one mostly focuses on back, chest and core...and of course legs! And how did I feel the next day? Well, not the most sore I've ever been, but I could tell that I worked it hard the day before. And thank goodness, Day 2 was a rest day!
Workout Time: 36 minutes
Workout Score: Top Notch!
